Mission Statement
The Los Angeles EyeCare~Optometry Group’s mission:
To provide and promote exceptional primary eye care, contact lens and preventative healthcare services. To inspire trust and confidence through innovative and exemplary services, always with a personal caring attitude.
We have had the pleasure of being the primary eyecare providers for over 25,000 patients. We have patients who fly in from all over the United States, as well as, the world. Places such as San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York, Washington, Hawaii, England, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, Hong Kong, and Spain.
The Los Angeles EyeCare Optometry Group offers comprehensive vision and ocular health examinations for both adults and children. We offer a number of services such as:
- Eye disease diagnosis and treatment (i.e. Conjunctivitis, Dry Eyes, etc.)
- Systemic disease screening (i.e. High Blood Pressure)
- Specialty contact lens services (i.e. Bifocals, Ortho-K, CRT, Keratoconus, Astigmatism, etc)
- Laser vision correction (LASIK and PRK) pre and post-operative care

Practice History
Our optometric office was established in 1921 in the city civic center area of Los Angeles in an area known as Little Tokyo, located near well-known landmarks as City Hall, the Music Center, and Parker Center/Central Police Headquarters. The optometric practice was established by Dr. K. Sugino and was succeeded by his sons Drs. Arthur and Paul Sugino. Dr. Art Sugino passed away in an airplane crash and, at the request of his surviving family, the practice was continued by Dr. Rodger T. Kame in 1966 and was later named The Los Angeles EyeCare Optometry Group.
Dr. Rodger Kame continued the practice for 34 more years until his untimely death on July 11, 2000 from renal cancer. His legacy goes on with his son, Dr. Gregory Y. Kame, who continues the excellent, professional eye care that has been provided for over 80 years.
This primary eye care/specialty contact lens practice was named one of the 10 best contact lens practices in the country in 1986 by 20/20 Magazine. Known for its “cutting edge” posture in the contact lens field, L.A. EyeCare's professional team performs clinical studies and investigations on an ongoing basis.
